The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the upcoming 193rd Annual General Conference, scheduled for April 1-2.
“General conference provides an opportunity to receive personal revelation as general Church leaders give counsel and direction,” wrote the First Presidency in a letter dated Thursday, March 2. “We encourage members to listen to, study, ponder, and apply the counsel given.”
All five general sessions of the April 2023 general conference — the morning, afternoon and evening sessions on Saturday, April 1, and the morning and afternoon sessions on Sunday, April 2 — are for all individuals, families and friends.
The letter — signed by President Russell M. Nelson and his counselors, President Dallin H. Oaks and President Henry B. Eyring — was sent to general authorities and general officers; Area Seventies; stake, mission and district presidents; and bishoprics and branch presidents. The First Presidency has directed that the letter be read in upcoming ward and branch sacrament meetings.
It also acknowledged that in-person attendance again will be limited due to ongoing renovation and construction on and around Temple Square and that local leaders are to decide about members gathering in meetinghouses to watch general conference.
The letter in its entirety reads:
“We are pleased to announce the upcoming 193rd Annual General Conference. The First Presidency, members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and other General Authorities and General Officers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will share messages of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
“General sessions for all individuals, families, and friends will be held Saturday morning, afternoon, and evening, April 1, as well as Sunday morning and afternoon, April 2. The conference will be broadcast on ChurchofJesusChrist.org, other media, and the Church satellite system. Due to the ongoing construction taking place on and around Temple Square, in-person attendance at the general conference sessions will again be limited. Decisions about gathering to watch general conference in meetinghouses will be left to the discretion of local leaders.
“General conference provides an opportunity to receive personal revelation as general Church leaders give counsel and direction. We encourage members to listen to, study, ponder, and apply the counsel given. The messages will be published in the Gospel Library app, on ChurchofJesusChrist.org, and in Church magazines for further viewing and study.”
